The manager shall review a street light request using the following guidelines:

A. The primary purpose of street lights is to improve public safety by illuminating public roads, alleys and other public areas. In reviewing requests for street light installations, the manager shall consider the volume of traffic and the risk to public safety in the area where the street light is proposed.

B. The manager shall not install street lights where the primary purpose is to illuminate private property, including private driveways, yards, parking areas or buildings. In such cases, lighting is the property owner’s responsibility.

C. The manager shall consider the cost of street light installation and whether there are funds available for the installation.
